MEESSAGE FROM LOCAL

The first things that come to mind when I think of Kenya and Tanzania, my destinations, are the fact that they are two of the most popular coffee origins in Japan, and that they produce coffee with beautiful, unique flavors. Despite all that, I often hear that a young workforce is leaving rural farming areas for bigger cities, and that has resulted in a decrease in coffee harvest.

I hope this trip will be a good opportunity to expand a positive cycle where I see firsthand what is going on in origins, bring back something to my hometown Hokkaido’s local scene and Japan at large and think about what I can give back to origins.

I also look forward to interacting with top roasters with whom I travel together.
